Who runs the Club?
Our staff team is made up of a Play Facilitator, an Adminstrator and several Play Workers. There are always a minimum of two play workers for each session.
Our current Play Facilitator is Raquel de Mena and her role is to manage the day-to-day business of the Club and play schemes. She coordinates the activity programme for each session, working closely with the Play Workers and making sure the sessions are well resourced and planned. She is assisted in managing the administrative side of the Club by the adminstrator.
All staff have an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau checks and we are committed to ensure they have regular training.
There is also a Management Committee which is made up of parent volunteers and is responsible for the overall management of the Club. Management meetings are held once a term and all parents are welcome.
The AGM is usually held in July of each year.
You can find out more about how we are run from our Club's constitution (PDF doc 11K).
Can I help?
Of course, we are always on the look out for much needed help with the running of the Club, so if you can spare some time either to join the Management Committee or to help out in other ways please get in touch. We'd love to hear from you!
Discipline Policy
We have clear rules regarding discipline and behaviour.
We ask you not to get involved with discipline at the Club when you are collecting your child. The Playworkers are probably dealing with the situation and interference, however well-intentioned, will not help them maintain a consistent approach.
Club Rules
- We listen to the Play Facilitator, Playworkers and volunteers and do as they ask
- We listen to other children
- We keep our hands and feet to ourselves
- We will not hurt other people by the things we say, by swearing, name calling, rudeness or shouting
- We will take care of the things that belong to other and to the After School Club
- We will not play near the fire doors or outside the main hall
- We will share equipment and toys fairly
- We will be aware of safety when walking to After School Club or out on outings
Poor Behaviour
When a child misbehaves the following will be followed
123 Warning System
- Remind the child of the rules
- If behaviour continues give the child a warning
- If behaviour continues child will be stopped from doing the activity they are doing (timeout for 5 minutes – in office if necessary). Parents informed of poor behaviour
- If behaviour continues, a letter will be sent home to parents
- If the behaviour still continues, child will be excluded from the club
In the event of a child being violent / racist / sexist action 3 should proceed.
If necessary, in cases of extreme violation of the rules a child will be removed immediately from the club. Should it become necessary to suspend a child, a special meeting will be convened. This will consist of the co-ordinator, the child's parents(s) and at least one member of the Management Committee.
Persistant disruption to the rest of the group could mean that the child may have to leave the club.
Fees
- After School Club: £7.50 per session
- Holiday Playcheme: £20.00 per day, £10.00 per half day
Termly invoices are issued at the start of each term.
Refunds are not made for absences due to sickness, holidays or school trips but can be negotiated in cases of long-term sickness
Collection of children
Your child must be collected from the club by 5.30pm at the latest and signed out. We must know who will be responsible for collecting your child(ren) and will not let them go with someone who we don't know without written permission from you. In an emergency when you will not be able to collect your child before 5.30pm please telephone the club on (0117) 904 0043.
We ask you to provide contact details of other people who can collect your child in the event of an emergency or unavoidable delay. If the emergency contact person is not available your child will be kept at the club and cared for by play staff or management committee members. You will be charged for additional care.
Cancelling a place
Should you no longer require a place on a particular day we require 4 week's notice to be given to the Co-ordinator. If you wish to withdraw your child within this time fee due to this period are payable.
Compliments, comments and complaints
We hope that your involvement with the club will be a happy one. We value your views and suggestions, so please tell us when you think we are doing a good job.
However from time to time problems do occur, we need to know about any concerns you have too so that we can put them right. You should speak to the co-ordinator, who will try to resolve things with you. If you remain dissatisfied then the next step is to write to the Chair of the Management Committee. They will arrange to discuss your compliant with you and look into the matter fully. They should respond to you in writing within 21 days to explain what steps they have taken to resolve things for you.
If you remain unhappy with our response then you can contact Ofsted Early Years Complaints Helpline on 0845 601 4772.
Equal Opportunities
The club runs in accordance to an equal opportunities policy. If you would like a copy, please contact the Co-ordinator or the chair of the committee.
